Barbara
and Nick Makris graciously invited us to spend a night in
their home which is in a town between San Francisco and the redwood country along the
coast highway. We made a 30-mile test run in the car the day
before we were supposed to arrive at their house, and called
to say there was simply no way we could take our
motorhome up that narrow, winding road! These incredibly
hospitable people then invited us to meet them midway between their home and
highway we would be traveling for a
picnic lunch.

They suggested a beautiful spot overlooking the Pacific, but
unfortunately, the wind was blowing so hard that we couldn't
even think of sitting outside to eat lunch and visit.
Completely undaunted, Barb and Nick served us with a
wonderful meal, complete with champagne, in the back of
their minivan!

The dog
lying on the floor of the van is their older dog, Rags, who
they thought about leaving at the house because he had not been well
lately. We were all tickled to see Rags decide that he was a
romantic youngster again when we walked him and Scooch in
front of the van - guess he just likes young blondes!

Unfortunately,
this is the only picture I got of Panda's face - she's constantly
in motion!
